Smash gets NBC’s best lead-in, The Voice, which should propel it to an average rating better than the rest of NBC’s hour-longs. Smash is also NBC President Bob Greenblatt’s pet project, so it’s not difficult to predict a renewal, even if the ratings fall below 2.0.
Will viewers of The Voice want a third hour of singing? Is NBC banking on some traffic from Dancing with the Stars? Would such an “optimistic” show fit at 10pm? What was the last good thing Steven Spielberg did?
One thing is for sure: it’s a musical on NBC on Mondays at 10pm.
